my red dead experience (as of march 2026)
I own Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition on Steam, which I bought on 25th December, 2020.
And I own Red Dead Redemption on Steam, which I bought on 10th August, 2025.
I have not played much Red Dead Redemption yet, as I haven't had much time for it. But the very small amount that I have played, I have enjoyed.
As for Red Dead Redemption 2, I have played significantly more! However, it took me many years to complete the story. I spent a lot of time trying to complete my compendium, and exploring the map, without playing any story missions past around halfway through Chapter 3. A friend pushed me to complete the story, which I agreed to, and then it only took a few months after that until I was seeing the credits.
I have 503 hours played in Red Dead Online since 10th October 2024, I'm at rank 238, and all roles at max rank. Though I mostly just fuck about and don't actually do anything important.
The rest of my hours are all story mode.
Regarding my main playthrough - though I have yet to start a new one - I had the Shire and the Tennessee Walker from the beginning of the game and I never named them. Then I caught the white Arabian for the sake of it and never rode her.
Instead, I spent my entire story experience riding my Reverse Dapple Black Thoroughbred which I named Honse. She was everything to me. We traveled at least a couple thousand miles together. I miss you girl. I have never cried so hard in my life.
